In a revolutionary approach, Indonesian experimental duo SENYAWA have opened the release of their latest album "Alkisah" to a multitude of independent record labels from all over the globe, in an attempt to decentralize the hierarchical structures of the music industry.

In addition to designing their own cover and packaging the album in the format of their choice, participating labels were invited to commission remixes of the album by local artists, as part of "Alkisah"'s release campaign.

Ruptured and Annihaya in Beirut reached out to a number of their contributors, from Lebanon and elsewhere, to offer their own interpretations of Senyawa's sprawling tales of doom and human shortcomings.

The results are, dare we say, nothing less than epic.

"Alkisah" was recorded and mixed by Iwan Karak at Eloprogo Arthouse in Magelang, Central Java, September 2020.

All remixes mastered by Ziad Moukarzel at Woodwork Studios, Beirut, Lebanon, January 2021.
Additional mixing on tracks 7 and 10 by Ziad Moukarzel.

Design by Hatem Imam [Studio Safar, Beirut], based on an original artwork by Sopeng.
